MIT students encourage young females to pursue STEM studies and careers
Two students from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) aid a visit to over ten CCSD schools to encourage young girls to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) studies, and career paths.
The MIT Women's Initiative is a student-founded and student-run program that aims to help close the gender gap in the STEM fields.
They gave presentations across the district to explain what STEM is and describe the various careers available in those areas.
The schools that participated included: The schools included: Laing Middle School, Morningside Middle, Burke High School, West Ashley Middle, Wando High School, Moultrie Middle School, Stall High School, Academic Magnet, and West Ashley High School CCSD Career & Technology Education North Charleston High R.B. Stall High School.
