Congratulations to our 23-24 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Bev Salvo! Your dedication and passion for education truly make a difference. We are lucky to call you ours! ♥️🖤
“Throughout my many years of teaching, I have positively impacted student achievement; maybe not always in the most conventional ways, but my methods work. In the classroom, I create lessons that teach the basics of history but then work with my students to answer the more difficult questions of how our nation got to that point and how it relates to us today. Outside the classroom, I support kids by attending events, teaching Saturday School and Summer School, hosting EOC sessions for our PLC, and co-sponsoring the Black History Month program. The Black History Month program allows me to learn from and alongside our students. Together, we are inspired to share those stories with our Wando family. But I believe that my connection with students has allowed me to impact students most. Whether a student earns a “Salvo Star”, hears “Happy” music on Fridays, or comes by for a grilled cheese sandwich, each child knows they are welcome and included. When a child feels comfortable, they achieve so much more.” -Mrs. Salvo
