WANDO LEGEND NAMED BEST YEARBOOK IN SC FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Mount Pleasant, SC – For the first time in school history, Wando High School’s yearbook, Legend, won the South Carolina Scholastic Press Association’s (SCSPA) Best Yearbook in the state honor for the third year in a row. The 50th anniversary edition of Wando’s yearbook is themed "Don't Wait.” This is the fourth time overall Legend received SCSPA’s top award.
“Each year, these students continue to strive for more and more accolades, and their efforts are always focused on making the best yearbook possible,” said Wando English teacher Phillip Caston, who serves as the school’s yearbook adviser. “This is a fitting tribute to our historical 50th volume. The yearbook students refuse to settle on ‘good enough’ and work to improve upon excellence every year.”
In addition, Legend’s staff brought home 10 individual awards, the most of any school with a yearbook in the competition this year. Legend also won more first place awards than any other yearbook in 2023.
The following Legend staff members received SCSPA individual awards:
“For Legend to be named the best yearbook in South Carolina for the third year in a row is absolutely incredible, but also no surprise,” said Nicole Breen, co-editor in chief of the 2023 yearbook. “The staff has a true dedication to excellence and I could not be more proud of all they have accomplished. Legend’s commitment to producing work of only the highest quality is obvious and these continued achievements are markers of the staff's hard work and talent.”
