Congratulations go to the AMHS Mock Trial team, who placed 2nd in the region after three rounds of competition in Georgetown on February 25, 2023. The team's 2nd place win at regionals qualified them to continue at the state level in Columbia on March 11th.
Individual Most Effective Awards during regionals went to:
- Betsy Bailey and Campbell Lesher for Round 1
- Harry Ding and Jordan Burrell for Round 2
- Wilson Swenson and Molly George for Round 3

In addition to these individual accolades, the team was honored with the Professionalism and Civility Award. According to the SC Bar, this award is "voted by all teams to highlight the importance of professionalism among teams participating in Mock Trial competitions. Teams nominated for the award must demonstrate qualities inside and outside the courtroom including: a professional demeanor, civility, integrity, honesty, fair play, respect for the competition, respect for fellow competitors, respect for volunteers and all associated with the program throughout the competition, and respect for courthouse staff and their facilities." More about this honor can be found here: https://www.scbar.org/ public/students-educators/ high-school-mock-trial/high- school-professionalism-and- civility-award/
At the state level, students fought valiantly against three different teams. Despite not placing first or second, the team walked away having wowed their judges and peers.
