Emilie Woody as Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction

CCSD is excited to announce and welcome Emilie Woody as the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Woody has been serving in the interim in this role after previously leading professional development for the district.

Woody, a long-time Wando teacher, started her career as a teacher in North Carolina. In 2002, she joined CCSD, teaching Global Studies, Lowcountry History, and High School Reading at Wando High School, before transitioning into a media specialist role in 2005. In 2008, she earned National Board Certification in Library Media and in 2015 was selected as the CCSD Teacher of the Year. Woody also served as Interim Director of Professional Development for the district in 2016.

Woody holds a Bachelor’s in History, a Master’s in Education, and a Master’s in Library and Information Science. She has participated in numerous state, regional, and national leadership, equity, and transformational initiatives as well as served as a teacher leader for our Teacher Roundtable and Teacher Cabinet.

CCSD is proud to have Emilie Woody as our Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction not only because of her expertise, commitment to lifelong learning, and leadership skills, but also because she represents the voice of our master teachers who give selflessly each day to put students at the heart of our work.
