Social Emotional Resources
Hello Mini Cat Family,
There's a lot of heavy things going on in our world today, and even though we try our hardest to shelter students, they will worry. But, pretending that worries and fears don't exist is the opposite of what we should be doing. In fact, encouraging kids to talk about what’s frightening them and validating them, helps tremendously.
In this lesson, you will help students understand how fear works, that it’s okay to be afraid, and how to not let fears control how they live or act. Students will identify things in their world that causes them to worry or fear and work through them together by having a group discussion.
REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENT - Resources for social and emotional learning at home:
Many of you have reached out to me asking how you can support your students during an extended period where schools are closed. Here are a few ideas:
First, all of our online programs can be played at home as long as students have internet access and a device running a web browser (but not on phones). Please supply parents or caregivers of your students with student usernames, passwords and the correct game website to log into. Also, please share these two resources to help parents with the programs:
- Parent letter with program overview: https://media.
centervention.com/pdf/ Centervention-Parent-Letter- Flyers.pdf
- Parent instructions: https://media.
Also, you may want to fill out the game-specific game cards and send those home. These are available at the top of each program page on your educator dashboard. And note: You can continue to monitor student daily usage, progress, reporting and assigning licenses from your dashboard.
In addition to our online games, please share these two pages with parents:
- Social Skills Resources for Parents: https://www.
- Free lessons and activities: https://www.
Lastly, with the anxiety, stress, and distruptions occuring around the world, we want to do everything we can to support you as well. Therefore, we have created a Private Group on Facebook to help you navigate social and emotional challenges in your home, school, and community.
Please join our group, and let us know what we can do to help!
