Meet Our Teacher of the Year: Ms. Bailey

Meet Our Teacher of The Year for the 22-23 School Year.

Kelsey Bailey  grew up in Annapolis, MD. She attended  Frostburg State University

for  her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Ms. Bailey earned her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Gardner-Webb University.

She  has been teaching for 12 years, but has been in Kindergarten for 10 years. She taught for 8 years in North Carolina, and has been in Charleston for the past 4 years.

She chose to become a teacher because she loves working with and advocating for all learners. She grew up watching her mother's love of teaching, and knew that educating children was something she was meant to do.

For the remainder of the year, three goals that I have are the following:

● Prepare my students for the Fastbridge assessments, and make sure they are set up for success in 1st grade.

● Continue to work on planning and unpacking the new curriculum to best fit the needs of my students.

● Continue to maintain and grow the relationships with students and the welcoming atmosphere of my classroom.

What advice do you have for new teachers?

If I could give any advice to a first year teacher it would be to breathe! Remember that you

cannot conquer the world in one day and learning new things takes time. Not one single person

in your school is an expert and everyone will learn something new.
