Meet Our TOY Ms. Rogers
Meet Our Teacher of The Year for the 21-22 School Year.
Dorothy Rogers grew up in Dillon, SC. She attended Coastal Carolina University
for her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and currently attending College of
Charleston completing her certification in Special EDucation for Learning Disabilities.
She has been teaching third grade for eight years, five in Myrtle Beach and three in Charleston.
She chose to become a teacher because she loves working and advocating for all learners. She also saw her mother's passion for teaching when she was growing up and knew that teaching was her calling.
What are 3 goals for the remainder of the year?
For the remainder of the year, three goals that I have are the following:
● Prepare my students for upcoming SCready and map testing assessments
● Continue to work on unpacking the EL curriculum to prepare my students for TDAs
● Complete my certification in Sped. and prepare for next year's challenges in a new
position within my school.
What advice do you have for new teachers?
If I could give any advice to a first year teacher it would be to breathe! Remember that you
cannot conquer the world in one day and learning new things takes time. Not one single person
in your school is an expert and everyone will learn something new.

heart…(people) respond to leadership in a most remarkable way and once you have won
(their) heart, (they) will follow you anywhere.’ –Vince Lombardi
