Our Students Are Going Places

The holiday season is already underway at Lambs Elementary School, as every student (nearly 400) there received a free bike on the morning of Monday, November 15, 2021. The opportunity was made possible by former CCSD teacher Katie Blomquist, her non-profit Going Places, local businesses, and volunteers from the community.

Students, staff, and parents gathered outside in anticipation as the army of volunteers lifted two giant tarps to reveal hundreds of bicycles with the name "The Adventure" on them.

Blomquist and Going Places have now arranged for new bikes to be donated to every student at seven schools: Pepperhill Elementary (2017), Mount Zion Elementary (2018), Sanders-Clyde Elementary (2019), Edith L. Frierson Elementary (2019), Stono Park Elementary (2020), Jane Edwards Elementary (2020), and Lambs Elementary (2021). Several more schools have received bikes through mini reveals as well.

Charleston County School District continues to appreciate (and be amazed at) the dedication, passion, commitment, and generosity of Ms. Blomquist and Going Places, as well as the local businesses and volunteers who contribute to this cause that unifies and lifts the community.
