Students Learn Real-World Skills Through Yo Art Fashion Design Program
Mrs. Kylene Gerideau-Grant's 6th grade class and Z-Period students worked with Yo Art, Inc. for ten weeks on creating designs digitally and with mannequins using every day materials. The instructor was Jonatan Guerrero, a well known fashion designer in the local area, who has designed for several celebrities. The students actively involved themselves with their designs in groups while using employability skills such as teamwork, perseverance, organization and commitment. At the end of the ten weeks, the students had the opportunity to showcase their work at a night of fashion at Gwynn's of Mount Pleasant. According to Mrs. Gerideau-Grant, "This will be an experience they will always remember, and they will be able to have these designs for years to come." Mrs. Gerideau-Grant is Zucker's Career and Technology Education (CTE) teacher.
