Seventh Annual Silent Art Auction & Student Artist Competition
The James Island Arts Council (JI Arts), a local 501 (c )3 nonprofit, in collaboration with the Town of James Island and the City of Charleston, is holding its Seventh Annual Silent Art Auction & Student Artist Competition, Saturday, March 7th, 5-7:30 pm, at the new James Island Town Hall, 1122 Dills Bluff Rd.
This beloved annual event builds awareness of the many types of talented artists in our community and provides ongoing support of arts education on the Island. Attendees gather to celebrate our Island’s cultural wealth, while young artists build connections to professionals and the marketplace, and we all raise much-needed funds for our Island classrooms. Begin the evening strolling through our juried student artist exhibits, including new 3D and photography categories. Be amazed at what our young students can do! Select student art is available for purchase and by commission… We want to encourage our youth and inspire our community to begin making and buying original art!
Our Silent Art Auction in the Council Chambers highlights work donated by local artists and bids start as low as $5. This year, in addition to a Lowcountry porch bistro with food and drink, we’re adding a bazaar with donated items priced to sell! Live music, raffles and door prizes keep the evening festive. There are many fun ways to contribute and all proceeds go to support our 13 art classrooms serving students from James, Johns and Folly Islands.
Every JI Arts event is a food drive for James Island Outreach to help our neighbors in need. Please bring cans, boxes or bags of food and show your support. Kids get in free and our modest $5 adult entry ticket doubles as a raffle for a great door prize from Lowe’s. Tickets are available online at allevents.com and at the gate. Come prepared to have a good time and leave artfully inspired, knowing you helped keep the Arts alive on James Island!
