Charleston County School District celebrates students’ outstanding attendance

RELEASE DATE: July 9, 2024

Charleston County School District (CCSD) hosted its first-ever Outstanding Attendance Event on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the CCSD District 4 Stadium in North Charleston.

Attendance EventThe event, organized by CCSD's Department of School Support and Community Engagement, drew a large crowd of approximately 600 people comprised of honorees, families, educators, and community members to celebrate the exceptional attendance records of CCSD students who did not miss a signal day of school during the 2023- 2024 academic year.

The event featured various "carnival-style" activities such as games, face painting, food trucks, vendors, DJs, game trucks, and field games, providing fun and entertainment for attendees of all ages.

In addition to the fun and games, the event served a significant purpose: to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance. Schools used this platform to promote the #ShowUpToGlowUp initiative, highlighting how consistent attendance positively impacts student success and community growth.

The Attendance Event succeeded in its mission to highlight the importance of attendance while fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment among CCSD students and families.
