Throughout his tenure, Brandt has shown a deep commitment to students, including his work stewarding students through the college application process and demonstrating his investment in their future. His commitment to academic excellence has been evident as he engaged directly with students, families, and the community.

“Having served WAHS for the last five years, I am deeply honored to step into the role of principal,” said Brandt. “I am committed to building on the progress made and leading the development of WAHS into the neighborhood school that all students and families want and deserve.”

Prior to his role as Associate Principal, Brandt served as Lead Assistant Principal and Assistant Principal at West Ashley High School, where he oversaw multiple departments, improved student support systems, contributed significantly to the school's daily operations and strategic initiatives, as well as oversaw capital improvements to the campus.

He also held the position of Assistant Principal at Morningside Middle School from 2016-2019, where he led grade-level administration and promoted community outreach.

“The West Ashley community is lucky to have Dr. Brandt as the school’s next leader,” said Associate Superintendent Sherry Eppelsheimer. “His long-standing service to WAHS, proven track record of implementing innovative strategies, and his ability to foster a collaborative school culture makes him the perfect fit for this role. I am confident that under his leadership, West Ashley High School will continue to thrive and provide outstanding educational opportunities for all students."

Brandt holds a Doctor of Education in Education Systems Improvement Science from Clemson University, a Specialist of Education in Educational Leadership, and a Master of Science in Secondary Administration from The Citadel, as well as a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Throughout his career, Brandt has been recognized for notable achievements, including his receipt of The Citadel's Charles E. Hirshey Award, his being named Morningside Middle School Teacher of the Year, and being selected CCSD's Teacher of the Month.

Please join us in congratulating Brandt on his new role as Principal of West Ashley High School. We are confident that his leadership will continue to drive the school's success and foster a positive and enriching environment for all students and staff.
