CCSD Career and Technical Education student honored with scholarship from National Technical Honor Society

Chelsee MacDonaldChelsee MacDonald, Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies Health Science student and graduating senior from R.B. Stall High School, was recently awarded a $1,000 Jon H. Poteat Scholarship from the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).

MacDonald is also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Honors Choir and the Next Generation Storytellers Screenplay competition winner. MacDonald plans to attend Trident Technical College for her Associate of Science Degree in Health Science Preparation. She was among 250 outstanding NTHS members to receive the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship based on their ability to consistently exemplify the seven attributes of NTHS – Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.

During the time Chelsee was at Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies, she was an exemplary student.

Since 1984, NTHS has been the honor society for Career and Technical Education (CTE), serving high schools, career centers, community & technical colleges, and universities. Recognizing over 60,000 new members annually, NTHS exists to advocate for and empower all students to pursue the technical and academic skills needed to build their careers and a skilled global workforce.

NTHS has awarded over $3 million in scholarships to remarkable CTE students in partnership with student leadership organizations and industry partners. Some of these partners include Business Professionals of America (BPA), DECA, Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), HOSA – Future Health Professionals, Law and Public Safety Education Network (LAPSEN), National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), National Center for Construction Education, Research and its Build Your Future initiative (NCCER/BYF), SkillsUSA, and Technology Student Association (TSA).
