LaShawna Harris selected as CCSD  leader of Teaching and Learning 

LaShanda RiversCharleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce Lashawna Harris as Executive Director of Teaching and Learning.  Harris has served as the district’s Director of Instructional Programs since  2019.

Harris brings over 20 years of diverse experience developing and implementing programs to increase student academic success to the role.  She began her career in 1998 as a CCSD classroom teacher at R.D. Schroder  Middle School in Hollywood, SC, where she taught sixth through eighth-grade social studies. During her time at Schroder, Harris served as department and grade level chair, as well as a Mentor and Cooperating  Teacher.

In 2005, Harris took her talents to Berkeley County at Cross High School, where she taught eighth-grade social studies. While at Cross, Harris improved student achievement, resulting in 75-80% student proficiency on the Palmetto Achievement of State Standards (PASS) while collaborating with grade level and department team members to improve instructional delivery.  



Nick Reece selected as principal at Moultrie Middle 

Nick ReeseCharleston County School District (CCSD) is thrilled to announce Nick Reece as principal at Moultrie Middle School. Reece has  served as interim principal at Moultrie for the past year. Prior to his time with the Patriots, Reece was an associate principal at West Ashley High  School (WAHS) for five years. 
In 2004, Reece joined the district as a seventh-grade science teacher at  Thomas C. Cario Middle School. In addition to teaching during his nine years at Cario, Reece also served as an assistant administrator and as an assistant varsity swimming coach and boys basketball coach for Wando High School.  Reece relocated out of state to Delaware (DE) beginning in 2014, where he joined Sussex Technical School in Georgetown, DE, as a sixth-grade science teacher. The following year, he was promoted to assistant principal at nearby Delmar High School in Delmar, DE before returning to Sussex  Technical as an assistant principal in 2016. 



Veteran CCSD educator John Cobb  Named Executive Principal at Memminger Elementary, Cherie Wash Appointed Interim Principal  

John CobbCharleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce and welcome John Cobb as Executive Principal at Memminger  Elementary School. In this new role, Cobb will oversee the work at  Memminger while also assisting in special CCSD projects related to improving student outcomes. An experienced leader in CCSD, Cobb is joining the Memminger family after serving as the district’s Executive  Director of Federal Programs and School Improvement for the last several years. Memminger Principal Dottie Brown will retire on June 30, 2024, after a three-decade-long career as an educator. 


Cherie WashCherie Wash has also been appointed as Memminger’s Interim Principal.  Wash has served as Memminger’s Assistant Principal since 2020 after previously serving as a district instructional specialist, lead teacher, and teacher evaluator in the Office of Teacher Effectiveness. Cobb’s experience throughout the district, coupled with Wash’s long-standing service at  Memminger, will complement one another to benefit and engage students,  parents, and the community.
