CCSD recognizes Month of the Military Child

RELEASE DATE: March 26, 2024

Military Child MonthCharleston County School District (CCSD) recognized April as the Month of the Military Child at the March 25, 2024 Board of Trustees meeting.

Anna Bilbo, Community Coordinator of Military Child Education Coalition; Chris Gerry, School Liaison Program Manager for Joint Base Charleston; Jennifer Ohmer, School Liaison Program Manager for Joint Base Charleston; and Sarah Schackelton, Community Coordinator of Military Child Education Coalition were present as a proclamation was read to recognize the moment.

The proclamation stated that military youth of today and tomorrow promise to be among the most active and involved populations in our nation’s history. As such, CCSD is honored to work with Joint Base Charleston installation personnel to provide support to children of service members as they transition between schools to address their distinct needs and prepare them to graduate as well-rounded citizens ready for college and career.

By ensuring military children are safe and supported in CCSD schools and communities, our men and women in uniform can focus on challenges and their mission. The proclamation concludes with CCSD’s commitment to efforts and support that serve to improve the lives of military youth and help pave the way for future generations.
