CCSD hosts parts of Power Up Conference centered around college and career readiness

Charleston County School District (CCSD) hosted several events as a part of the U.S. Department of Education's Power Up Series Conference. The multi-day conference featured a student engagement event about college and career readiness which included a student pep rally, town hall, and college and career fair for Burke and Simmons-Pinckney students which was followed by a Black Educator Roundtable and Family and Community Engagement Roundtable.
 
Special guests during the student engagement event included Alexis Holmes, Executive Director, United States Department of Education; Charleston County School District Superintendent Anita Huggins; Salome Daniel, Confidential Assistant, White House Black Initiative; and Michelle Simmons, CCSD Chief Academic Officer.
