CCSD is excited to announce and welcome the following new leaders:
  • Bryan Coleman, Principal, Thomas C. Cario Middle School
  • Beth Dillenkoffer, Principal, James Simons Montessori School
  • Latrice Smalls, Interim Principal, Edith L. Frierson Elementary School (effective July 1, 2023)

Bryan Coleman
Thomas C. Cario Middle School


Bryan ColemanPrincipal Coleman has served as interim principal at Cario since July 2022.


Coleman entered the field of education in 2005 as an eighth-grade science
teacher at Greece Apollo Middle School in Greece, NY. While at Greece Apollo,
Coleman planned and co-taught science and earth science in general and
accelerated classes, as well as chairing the school’s Honors by Demonstration
program for all middle school science students seeking high school honors
credit. Three years later, Coleman joined the teaching staff at Thomas C.
Cario Middle where he has served in various capacities for the last 15 years.

Elizabeth Dillenkoffer - James Simons Montessori School

Beh DillendofferDillenkoffer has served as interim principal at James Simons since 2022.

Dillenkoffer began her education career as a special education teacher teaching students with emotional disabilities from 2004-2010 at West Ashley Middle School and Liberty Hill Academy. In 2010, she took the role of a behavior specialist where she created data-informed interventions for students in need in collaboration with students’ home schools and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams.


Two years later, Dillenkoffer joined the administrative team of Jerry Zucker Middle School as an assistant principal. While serving at Zucker, Dillenkoffer participated on the MTSS team, Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) team, faculty senate, and teacher teams.

She coordinated Title I planning meetings, oversaw the writing of the school’s Title I plan, and served as school testing coordinator for SCAlt, end-of-course (EOC) exams, ELDA, SC Ready, and SCPASS testing. Dillenkoffer also oversaw and participated in the School Improvement Council (SIC) and Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO), as well as the School in Communities, need assessment and site development, and review.

 

Latrice Smalls - Edith L. Frierson Elementary School 

Latrice SmallsSmalls has served as assistant principal at Stono Park Elementary School in West Ashley for the last seven years. Current Frierson Elementary Principal Dr. Deborah Davis-Cummings is transitioning to a new position at the conclusion of the 2022-2023 school year.


In 2008, Smalls joined CCSD as a sixth-grade teacher at R.D. Schroder Middle
School. She taught math and science for one year before joining nearby C.C.
Blaney Elementary School as a fifth and sixth-grade English Language Arts,
math, science, and social studies teacher. Recognized for her excellent ability
to engage students in their work and foster personal growth and ownership of
learning, Smalls was selected to become a personalized learning coach for the
district in 2013.
