CCSD improves on Advanced Placement results
Scholars from Charleston County School District (CCSD) made significant gains on Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the 2021-2022 school year. The national testing organization recently released results, and CCSD improved 5.7 percentage points from the previous year with students scoring a “3” or higher (out of 5) on AP tests to 73.5 percent. That average is 9.5 percentage points better than the state average, and 13.3 percent better than the national average.
The district made gains in the three major subgroups of students scoring a “3” or higher on AP tests as well:
-
Black – 30.0 to 35.2 ; 5.2 percent increase
-
Hispanic – 52.7 to 62.6; 9.7 percent increase
-
White – 71.7 to 77.2; 5.5 percent increase
CCSD students combined to take 5,928 AP exams last school year. Students who earn a "3" or better are eligible to transfer the credit they receive from the class to four-year colleges and universities.
