CCSD Seeks Community Volunteer to Serve on the District’s Audit & Finance Committee

The Charleston County School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees is seeking community or industry leaders with training and education experience in Business, Finance, or Accounting to serve on the CCSD Audit & Finance Committee for the two-year term ending March 2023, with the possibility of annual renewals after that time.  

The Audit & Finance Committee’s purpose is to assist the Board of Education in fulfilling its financial and auditing oversight responsibilities. 

Qualifications: 

Must have medium-large corporation work experience in Finance, Financial Auditing,  Banking, Economic Development, or Business Management.  

Must be willing to commit to a minimum of one (2-4 hour) meeting monthly.  

The Committee serves solely in an advisory capacity making recommendations to the Board on financial and audit-related matters. Committee responsibilities include a review of the District’s interim financial reports, recommending policies that maintain and improve the financial health and integrity of the District, and oversight of the internal and external audit functions.

Employees and contractors of the District or immediate family members are not eligible to serve on the Committee. 

The present Audit and Finance Committee will review applications and make recommendations  to the CCSD Board of Trustees who will approve the new committee members.
