CCSD drive-thru meal service off to great start

REVISED (3/17/20): Baptist Hill Middle/High School and Jane Edwards Elementary School have been added to the list of "Grab and Go" locations

Grab and Go Meals The Charleston County School District Office of Nutrition Services is offering a drive-thru “Grab & Go” Style Meal Service consisting of a Breakfast and Lunch for students at 17 sites within the Charleston County School District. Two sites were added during the first week (Baptist Hill Middle High School and Jane Edwards Elementary School). 

It kicked off the morning of Monday, March 16, 2020, with great success.

Walter Campbell, Executive Director of Nutrition Services said it is a pleasure to serve the students and community.

“I would love to thank the incredible team I get to work with every day, who truly keep students at the heart of their work,” said Campbell. “They make it look effortless, when we know there is a lot of hard work and extremely early mornings going on behind the scenes.” 

The following sites have been designated for meal distribution between the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday-Friday unless otherwise noted:  

 

Baptist Hill Middle High School (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Carolina Voyager Charter School (St. Andrew's Campus)

Charleston Charter School for Math and Science

Charleston County School of the Arts

Charleston Progressive Academy

Chicora Elementary School

E.B. Ellington Elementary School

Harbor View Elementary School

Haut Gap Middle School

Jane Edwards Elementary School (11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)

Ladson Elementary School

Laing Middle School

R.B. Stall High School

Sanders-Clyde Elementary School

St. James-Santee Elementary-Middle School

W.B. Goodwin Elementary School

West Ashley Middle School  


With school districts around the country closing their campuses to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Charleston County School District will offer a drive-thru, “Grab & Go” style Meal Service at the above-named area sites for each day the school district is closed.  


Students 18 years or younger will be provided lunch and breakfast for the following day. 

Students from neighboring districts are eligible to participate in the meal service offered at the Charleston County School’s locations.  

“The smiles and thank you's from parents and students today make it well worth it,” said Campbell.

Distribution of meals will be stationed at the sites designated for drive-up or walk-up pick up only. Cafeterias will not be open for on-site meal service, and children must be present when the meals are picked up.   

Meals may include perishable components and will be stored in temperature-controlled environments prior to distribution. For more information on the offerings for Breakfast and Lunch please visit the Nutrition Services website.
