CONGRATULATIONS to Rita Gongora, our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year!
This what Ms. Gongora had to say about being a "change agent" in our school:
The 2020-2021 school year has been chocked full of changes and has required us all to foster a growth mindset. I strive to model innovative methods of teaching while utilizing the technology we have at our fingertips to provide students a myriad of resources and demonstrate learning at a high level.
At the beginning of the school year, I encouraged our faculty in a presentation about our new learning management system by simply taking a pause to realize that change is inevitable and our students will be looking at us to direct their paths.
As a math teacher, I have deepened my pedagogical standards by allowing my students to solve problems in multiple ways. I encourage them to solve problems through various processes instead of rote memorization of facts or steps and praise them when they make a discovery. In addition to this change in my own work, I’ve collaborated with department colleagues to navigate a new core curriculum.
Just as our world keeps turning, educators must be ready to adapt to our ever-changing climate. My goal as an instructional leader is to inspire and motivate with a can-do attitude while modeling eagerness to never stop learning and attaining growth.
