Deer Park Welcomes New Principal

Charleston County School District (CCSD) is excited to announce and welcome Brendan Glaze as principal at Deer Park Middle School. Glaze joined CCSD from Goose Creek High School in 2021. He has most recently served as principal at Baptist Hill Middle High School.

Glaze began his career as an educator in Berkeley County School District. From 2010 to 2015, he taught both middle and high school mathematics including pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, and Geometry. He also assisted school administration in reviewing school data to make instructional changes for student improvement and created bell schedules to maximize instructional time.

In 2015, Glaze took the position of Title I facilitator and instructional coach at Sedgefield Middle School. In this capacity, Glaze regularly met with the school planning team and administration to review and implement the school wide Title I plan and ensure its correlation with the strategic goals of the school and district. He also coordinated, planned, and implemented parent involvement activities and assisted with Title I activity evaluations and school improvement efforts. As an instructional coach, Glaze routinely assisted teachers in classroom curriculum efforts and conducted classroom observations to provide feedback to improve instruction. He also provided professional and staff development that helped achieve district and school goals for improving teaching and learning.

Following his time at Sedgefield, Glaze joined the administrative team at Goose Creek High in 2017 as an assistant principal. For three years, Glaze assisted with the successful development and implementation of various comprehensive plans and school level policies and procedures to support a healthy, safe, and high-quality environment for teaching and learning. In addition to the school’s COVID-19 School Re-Opening Plan, Glaze created and supervised the logistics and planning of the school’s emergency crisis plan. He also planned and executed parent and community school activities to foster stakeholder engagement and collaboratively worked with school staff to effectively identify, target, and support the instructional, social, and behavioral needs of a diverse school community.

Glaze earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education from South Carolina State University and a Master of Education in Administration and Supervision form Southern Wesleyan University. He holds endorsements in both Read 2 Succeed and Gifted and Talented, and is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.
