Daniel Jenkins Welcomes New Principal
Charleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce and welcome Quintella Middleton as principal at Daniel Jenkins Academy. Middleton has served as assistant principal at Daniel Jenkins since 2016.
Middleton began her career in CCSD in 2000 as a teacher at Gordon H. Garrett Academy of Technology. Over the next fifteen years, Middleton instructed students in hospitality, tourism, business marketing, and business internship courses. She designed and presented comprehensive lesson plans and unit-based projects that incorporated realistic business world scenarios to give students insight into how lessons in the classroom apply in real life.
In 2014, Middleton left the classroom to join the administration team at nearby Morningside Middle School as an assistant administrator. In this role, Middleton assisted in the development and administration of school policies, monitored and evaluated faculty members on classroom instruction and curriculum development, assisted in the supervision of school safety and security for staff and students, and organized student data information and assessments. She also implemented and managed extended school educational programs and coordinated student transportation.
Over the summer of 2015 at Morningside, Middleton served as Director of the Fifth Quarter with the Innovation Zone Learning Community (IZLC) where she supervised a staff of 95 professionals and nearly 500 middle school students focused on delivering effective instruction and enhancing student learning. Throughout the program, Middleton challenged each teacher and student with high expectations that successfully translated into high performance and positive results. Additionally, Middleton fostered relationships with parents to work in collaboration with teachers and administration to promote success both academically and behaviorally for their children.
The following year, Middleton took the position of assistant principal at Daniel Jenkins where she has spent the past six years supporting students and families. Since joining Daniel Jenkins, Middleton has focused on establishing community partnerships, facilitating professional development for staff, coordinating work-based learning opportunities and summer enrichment programs, promoting positive school and community relationships, and helping cultivate a shared vision for all stakeholders to help all students achieve success.
Middleton holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Claflin University, a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from The Citadel. She was the recipient of the 2008 Black History Award for Educators and was named Garrett Academy’s 2006-2007 Teacher of the Year. Middleton was also a member of the 2021-2022 Aspiring Principals Cohort at the Center for Executive Leadership (CEEL).
