Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Shirley Godfrey-Jackson for being selected as the 2023 recipient of the South Carolina Career and Technical Education (CTE) School Counselor of the Year.

This award recognizes Mrs. Godfrey-Jackson's interest in career guidance, while understanding the value of career and technical education programs in educational institutions.

Mrs. Godfrey-Jackson has spent her entire career with the CCSD and, for the past three years, has served as the career counselor here at Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies. She is also the ninth African American female graduate from The Citadel's Corps of Cadets.

Next week, she will be recognized at the 2023 South Carolina Education and Business Summit in Greenville.

"Every student deserves to have opportunities presented to them," Godfrey-Jackson said in a statement. "Watching students maximize opportunities is almost magical and makes my career choice a dream come true."
