CCSD Welcomes Ryan Cumback as Principal of West Ashley High
Charleston County School District (CCSD) is proud to announce and welcome Ryan Cumback as principal of West Ashley High School (WAHS).
Cumback has served in Charleston County Schools for the past thirteen years, most recently as the principal of Moultrie Middle since 2016. Prior to his time at Moultrie, Cumback served as the associate principal of curriculum and instruction at WAHS.
While at West Ashley, Cumback was also the assistant principal over ninth and tenth grade students, the Science Department, Math Department and the Fine Arts Department. Some of his responsibilities in these roles included overseeing the implementation of EEDA At-Risk and SC School Climate grants, induction teacher support, formal teacher observations and evaluations, state test administration, grants liaison, professional development, 504 plan coordination, academic and behavioral data analysis, and serving as MTSS chair.
“Ryan has been a remarkable leader at Moultrie over the last three years,” said CCSD Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait. “He not only has developed excellent rapport with the students and families he has served, but also has demonstrated skills, experience, and leadership fundamental to successfully lead West Ashley High forward in the years to come.”
Before becoming an assistant principal, Cumback served as an assistant administrator, truancy officer, credit recovery program coordinator, world history teacher, and CATS Advisory Board chair at WAHS.
