Hurricane Ida Relief
Charleston, SC – Baptist Hill Middle High School Seniors, Lashawna Brooks and Tyneisha Nelson organized a supply drive for the residents of Louisiana who were affected by Hurricane Ida. The supply drive, held in September,
included everyday items such as clothing, shoes, water, feminine hygiene products, baby products, and more.
With the help of teacher Sarah Hogle, the students designed a flyer and reached out to individuals for support of the drive. Carolina Benchworks, owned by husband and wife team, Michael and Stefanie Auclair, participated by agreeing to handle transport of the items. The couple, who are from Moncks Corner, retrieved the items from Baptist
Hill and made the journey to Louisiana. “We are so thankful to our community members that donated, said Brooks. There were over 200 pounds worth of donations!”
“Words cannot explain how thrilled we are with the outcome of this drive,” added Nelson. “We are proud of Bobcat nation, and glad we could help out the residents of Louisiana.”
