Assistant Principal Kyle Smalls

I am a native of Charleston, South Carolina and a graduate of West Ashley High School.  I attended Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina and earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education.  While at Morris College, I was a member of the nationally acclaimed Call Me MiSTER scholarship program that focuses on increasing the number of minority males teaching in the classroom.  During this time, I also served as president of the campus' chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.  In 2016, I earned a Master's Degree in Elementary/Secondary School Administration and Supervision from Charleston Southern University.

I have proudly served Charleston County School District for 11 years and counting.  Within those 11 years, I have served as a Title I middle school ELA/History teacher and School Climate Coach.  I have also served as an administrator on the primary, elementary, and high school levels in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston.

I have been married for 9 years to my wife Denise and we are blessed with three children: Kyle Jr. (5), Keegan (3), and Kendall (10 months).  When I am not working, I enjoy wrestling with my boys and traveling internationally with my wife.  Serving students, teachers, and the community are one of my greatest accomplishments.  I look forward to serving all stakeholders as the Assistant Principal of Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies!  The 2020-2021 school year will be a great one!
