KC Robertson, a day porter at Johns Island Elementary School, was honored Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Board of Trustees meeting as a Powered By Purpose recipient. He is the epitome of a team player, whose purpose is to serve the staff, students, and the needs of Johns Island Elementary School!

Powered By Purpose is the theme for this school year, and the recognition honors those who value people, take ownership, embrace the work, pursue excellence, and stay focused on results. For CCSD, “Powered by Purpose” is more than a theme; it’s a way of defining how the district wants its people to approach the 2026–2027 school year.

According to school leaders, K.C. goes above and beyond not only to keep the school safe and clean but also to help in any way he can. He earned his CPR certification this year on his own time, without being asked, so he could join the school’s first responder team in case of an emergency. He also volunteers to help with car line duty in the morning if needed because he noticed it was busier than in the past.

Principal Stephanie Hall said that KC recently brought to her the idea that he felt like the students would really enjoy working as hall monitors.

“We have so many helpful students who want to make the school a better place,” KC explained. “I thought the hall monitor position would teach them responsibility and leadership.”

Principal Hall thought it was incredible that someone who isn't necessarily in a leadership position at the school but cares deeply about it would suggest such a wonderful idea.

“He builds relationships with the staff and with the students,” Hall said. His purpose is to help everyone. And he does that on a daily basis. All the students, teachers, and staff here are like family. KC is a selfless person, and it is in his nature to help anyone in need.”

KC lives by that idea.

“If you see somebody who needs help, you help them,” he said.
