Stephanie Hall

The Charleston County School District (CCSD) has named Dr. Stephanie Hall interim principal of Johns Island Elementary School, effective immediately, following the appointment of former principal Judith Condon as Interim Executive Director of the Elementary Learning Community.

Dr. Hall has served as assistant principal at Angel Oak Elementary School since 2019, where she has played an integral role in strengthening instruction, supporting teachers, overseeing school operations, and expanding opportunities for students. Prior to joining the administrative team, she served as a lead teacher, first-grade teacher, and fifth-grade teacher at Angel Oak, earning the school's Teacher of the Year honor in 2017-2018.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hall has led numerous schoolwide initiatives, including coordinating state and district assessments, supporting special education services, leading multi-tiered systems of support, overseeing summer enrichment programs, and helping implement innovative literacy and family engagement programs. She has also served as a mentor for new teachers and worked closely with staff to build a positive, student-centered school culture.

"I've had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Hall, and one of the things that stands out most is the genuine care she has for people," said Dr. Jamie McCarthy, Associate Superintendent of the Elementary Learning Community. "She invests in relationships, supports teachers, encourages students, and approaches every challenge with optimism and professionalism.” Dr. Hall earned a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina, as well as a Master of Education in Literacy Education from The Citadel, a Master of Education in English Language Learning from Western Governors University, and a Masters of Education in Interdisciplinary STEM Education from The Citadel. She also holds bachelor's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University and has earned endorsements in Gifted and Talented Education and literacy.

"Dr. Hall represents the strength of our leadership pipeline," said Superintendent Anita Huggins. "She has dedicated her career to growing as an educator while investing in the success of students, teachers, and families. Her passion for instructional excellence, combined with her collaborative leadership style and deep understanding of the Johns Island community, make her exceptionally well-prepared to lead Johns Island Elementary during this transition."

Before joining Angel Oak Elementary, Dr. Hall taught second grade at St. James-Santee Elementary School, where she served as grade-level chair, math committee chair, and elementary science liaison while securing grants to expand learning opportunities for students.

As interim principal, Dr. Hall will lead Johns Island Elementary in continuing its commitment to high-quality instruction, strong family partnerships, and ensuring every student has the support needed to succeed.
