Charleston, SC - The Dave Spurlock CCSD Football Jamboree, scheduled for Friday, August 14, at the North Charleston Regional Stadium, is canceled due to forecasted extreme heat conditions. The decision was made with the safety and well-being of student-athletes, coaches, officials, staff, and spectators in mind. With the forecasted extreme heat, the jamboree would not be able to begin until much later in the evening. As a result, several participating teams would be required to play late into the night.
“We know how much our school communities were looking forward to this year’s event,” explained Gene Ross, Charleston County School District’s Executive Director of Athletics. “However, the safety of our student-athletes and everyone attending this event must come first. While this is a tough decision, we believe canceling this year’s jamboree is the most responsible decision.”
Anyone who purchased tickets online through GoFan will receive a refund. No action is required from ticket holders at this time.
