Charleston County School District (CCSD) is excited to welcome students back for the first day of school on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. To help families prepare for a smooth start to the school year, the district has created a Transportation webpage that includes important bus information, key transportation updates, and steps parents should take before the first day of school.

Families can use the district's Bus Stop Lookup Tool to locate their student's assigned bus stop. Under South Carolina law, general education bus stops may be located up to 0.3 miles from a student's residence. In accordance with CCSD guidelines, magnet school transportation utilizes parent-assisted stops, which may be located up to five miles from a student's home.

Parents whose students ride First Student buses can register for the FirstView mobile app beginning July 31, 2026. The app provides real-time bus tracking and notifications. Families served by Coastal Bus Line can sign up for notifications through the Remind app, which provides service updates but does not include live bus tracking. If a student does not have an assigned bus stop within the established transportation guidelines, parents or guardians should submit a Bus Stop Request. To avoid processing delays, the student's address and school information in the request must match the information in PowerSchool. Families will receive an email notifying them whether the request has been approved or denied, along with additional details.

During annual school registration, families can indicate whether their student will utilize bus transportation. If transportation needs change after registration has been completed, parents should contact their child's school so the school's data specialist can update the student's transportation selection in PowerSchool.
