Leadership Changes

Charleston County School District would like to announce the following leadership changes within the district:

Ruth Taylor, Principal, Mary Ford Elementary School
LaShawna Rivers, Director, Instructional Programs
William Wineberg, Interim Head Football Coach, West Ashley High School

Serving at the district level, Taylor was Assistant Associate Superintendent for the Elementary Learning Community from 2010 to 2013 and Student Support Services beginning in 2014. Prior to that, she served as principal at Stono Park Elementary from 2005 to 2010 and assistant principal at Beech Hill Elementary from 1999 to 2005. She has taught on various levels from second grade to post-high school in Florida and California before relocating to the Charleston area in 1992 and landing her first job in CCSD at Stono Park Elementary as a certified Parent Educator.

Rivers joined the Learning Services team beginning in the 2018-2019 school year as the leader of the district’s Virtual Schools program. Rivers has been serving as the interim director of Instructional Programs for past several months.

A graduate of Bethany College, with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education, Wineberg has served as Assistant Football coach since 2010. In 2016, he was named the Assistant Head Coach / Defensive Coordinator. Coach Wineberg has also served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach since 2014, producing a state champion in 2016.
