Baptist Hill Honor Roll

Baptist Hill Middle High School is proud to announce three of their exemplary scholars were recently selected as recipients of the 2019 National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) Outstanding Achievement Award: Alana Foster, Bryant Martinez Hernandez, and Tyneisha Nelson (all freshmen). Only four total students earned this honor from South Carolina this year, and three are Bobcats.

Raynard Singleton, who serves as the school’s assistant principal for the middle school grades and as Baptist Hill’s NJHS Faculty Adviser, nominated the students last year for the award. Each student was selected at the national level based on an outstanding record of academics, leadership, and community service. Only 500 students are honored nationwide each year.

“This achievement confirms we are on our way to becoming a high performing school, which is one of the pillars of our vision,” stated Principal Vanessa Brown.
The NJHS gives each student $500, which is placed in a college savings account. The Outstanding Achievement Award helps middle school students “jump-start” their quest toward higher education.

Baptist Hill started its National Junior Honor Society Chapter in July 2016. Last year, Kellise Singleton was the schools’ first NJHS member to earn the Outstanding Achievement Award, and was one of just two from South Carolina.

The National Junior Honor Society is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle-level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929.
