    Our faculty and staff are excited to welcome students back to school for the start of the 2022- 2023 school year. Please see the notes below for updates regarding scheduling and upcoming events.

    Schedules:
    Students may now view their schedules through their PowerSchool student portal at ccsdschools.powerschool.com/public. Students that have forgotten their PowerSchool password are encouraged to try their CCSD username (lasfir1234) and middle name as the password. If they are still having trouble, students should reach out to the school through the “Ask A Librarian” link on our school website. Students that need to request to drop or add a course must fill out the “Course Drop/Add Request”. Both forms are located on the “Info You Should Know” page on our school website.

    Chromebooks:
    JICHS will continue to be a 1:1 Chromebook school this year, and every student will be able to check out and use a school-issued device. Chromebook distribution will take place during the first five days of school. Students that provide a signed copy of the JICHS Student Mobile Device Agreement and have no outstanding obligations will be allowed to check out a device for educational purposes. Students may bring the signed agreement to school on the first day to check out a Chromebook.

    All required and supplemental fees may be paid with a debit/credit card, or Echeck on RevTrak. Cash payments, money orders and physical checks will not be accepted at the school. You may pay school fees through the RevTrak link on our school’s website at www.ccsdschools.com/jichs. Please reach out to your student’s administrator if you have concerns about any outstanding school fees or obligations.

    Orientation:
    On Monday, August 15, 2022, JICHS will be hosting an orientation at 5:30 pm. Incoming 9th grade students and upperclassmen new to our school are encouraged to join us with their parents/guardians. We look forward to seeing you that night to kick off the school year by meeting our teachers, touring the school, and checking out some of the new upgrades to our building.

    Transportation:
    Families that reside on James Island that will utilize bus transportation can use the Bus Stop Lookup Tool to find the bus stop closest to their home.  Please visit JICHS' Transportation Page for more information regarding busing.  

    Nutrition Services:
    Breakfast and lunch prices for students will be as follows for the 2022-2023 school year:

    Breakfast Prices • Full Price, Student - $1.40 • Reduced Price, Student - $0.30
    Lunch Prices • Full Price, Student - $2.25 • Reduced Price, Student - $0.40

  • Welcome from Mr. Thorn, JICHS Principal

    Mr. Thorn Welcome to James Island Charter High School (JICHS) where our mission is to develop confident, responsible, lifelong, and college-career ready learners who can excel in society by means of an innovative and diverse curriculum in a safe and enriching environment. We are a large, comprehensive high school that offers Career-Technical Education certification possibilities, 22 varsity sports teams outstanding Fine Arts programs, and numerous advanced coursework options, often providing opportunities for earning college-level credits. In fact, the focus of our unique charter is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program -- we are the only high school in Charleston County that offers a full IB Diploma Program.
