Welcome from Mr. Thorn, JICHS Principal
Welcome to James Island Charter High School (JICHS) where our mission is to develop confident, responsible, lifelong, and college-career ready learners who can excel in society by means of an innovative and diverse curriculum in a safe and enriching environment. We are a large, comprehensive high school that offers Career-Technical Education certification possibilities, 22 varsity sports teams outstanding Fine Arts programs, and numerous advanced coursework options, often providing opportunities for earning college-level credits. In fact, the focus of our unique charter is the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program -- we are the only high school in Charleston County that offers a full IB Diploma Program. This inclusive program sets a standard that prepares students to be successful global citizens. JICHS continues to rank among the top public high schools in our region, state, and beyond. Outstanding performances and accomplishments in music, art, and athletics complement our number one mission: academic achievement!
