Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in supporting Charleston County School District! Whether you're an individual looking to volunteer at one of our schools or a business or organization interested in partnering with us, we appreciate your commitment to our students.

Individual Volunteers

All school volunteers must complete an online application and successfully pass a background check before serving in our schools.

Before applying, please note:

Important Information

• A $6 non-refundable fee is required to process the background check.
• Background screenings include a nationwide criminal history check, Sex Offender Registry check, and Social Security verification.
• Most applications are processed within 48–72 hours, although some may take 7–10 days depending on the background check.
• Be sure to enter your full legal name exactly as it appears on your government-issued ID.
• You may apply to volunteer at multiple schools and select multiple volunteer roles. If you plan to attend field trips, be sure to select "Chaperone" as one of your volunteer functions.
