• Good afternoon Bulldogs,

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year.

August 15th will be Our Open House Drop-In and is scheduled from 2:00-3:00pm Primary (4k/5k only) and Lower Elementary(1-3).  From 3:00-4:00PM for adolescents (7/8) and UE(4-6).  During this time, parents will drop off supplies and see the classroom. I will meet with all parents in the café prior to visiting their classrooms to go over basic school procedures and routines.

Our 3K primary open house will be held on the 19th at 8:15am in the café.

Class rosters will be available at Open House on the 15th for parents. I have attached the class supply list and August/September calendars. You do not need to know the homeroom teacher in order to purchase class supplies. If you are in need of your child's teacher prior to the 15th please call Ms. Atwood 843-745-7105 starting August 11th.

The first day for students is Wednesday, August 17th.  Our drop off begins at 7:00am. Students can have free breakfast from 7:00-7:25am in the café. The tardy bell is at 7:35am daily. We begin our dismissal procedures at 2:05PM and expect all car riders/walkers to be picked up by 2:25pm.

Our first Spirit Day will be Friday, August 26th and it will be a Hursey Theme Day!

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Malcolm C. Hursey Montessori School, I extend a warm welcome to you as we begin a new school year. We look forward to working with you to support your children as they grow and develop as individuals in our Montessori environments.

As a parent or guardian, you play a unique role in your child’s success. An understanding of the Montessori philosophy and the roles played by teachers, students and family will help to establish consistency between the children’s home life and school life. Please use this handbook to become familiar with Hursey.

Hursey provides a high-quality Montessori education, based on the philosophy and methodology of Dr. Maria Montessori. We adhere to the “Essential Elements” of a quality Montessori Program as identified by the American Montessori Society.

    • Multi-age classes
    • Teachers with credentials from an accredited Montessori program
    • Full complement of developmentally appropriate Montessori learning materials
    • Montessori instructional approach throughout the program

We look forward to a wonderful school year, filled with promise and possibilities.

    Whatever It Takes!
