Now that the Center for Disease Control has officially approved the COVID-19 vaccine for five to 11-year-olds, we will provide the vaccine through partnerships with local medical organizations.
The district has set up 10 regional after-school clinics by Constituent District that will administer the two-shot Pfizer vaccine to students, with signed permission and approval from their parent or legal guardian, over the course of the next few months.

10/12/21: Close Contact Update
Close Contact Guidance:
Close contact is defined as having direct contact with a confirmed positive case within 3 feet or less for 15 minutes or more for students K-12, and within 6 feet or less for 15 minutes or more for adults over a 24 hour period.
The following will apply to close contact and quarantine determinations:
A close contact student must be wearing a mask within 3-6 feet of a positive student to avoid quarantine.
If both of the involved students were not wearing a mask then they must be at least 6 feet apart to avoid quarantine
Adults (teachers and staff) must be at least 6 feet apart to avoid quarantine (mask or no mask)
If the teacher is positive then all distances must be 6 feet or more to avoid quarantine (mask or no mask).
A positive antibody test does not release a close contact from quarantine per DHEC.
As a reminder per DHEC guidance: Fully vaccinated people and people verified (positive PCR or antigen test) to have been infected with COVID19 in the previous 90 days who were in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 but do not have COVID-19 symptoms do not need to quarantine unless they develop symptoms. Individuals may voluntarily choose to provide documentation of their full vaccination status to eliminate the need for quarantine. Fully vaccinated people are recommended to get tested 3-5 days after exposure, even if they do not have symptoms, and it is important for them to wear a mask at school until 14 days after exposure or they receive a negative test result.
