Read365 Volunteer Program
Through Read365, we increase the literacy skills of fourth and fifth grade students by providing more opportunities for students to read interactively and analyze literature with adult volunteers.
What to Expect
You will be provided with all necessary materials and information to be equipped to participate in READ365.
You have the opportunity to create a team or pair of readers that would work with the same student. This would allow you to participate in the program while minimizing your weekly commitments.
You will be paired with either one or two students during your weekly reading session and participate in the following activities:
-
Reading fun, grade-level appropriate chapter books such as “Because of Winn Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo, “Wonder” by RJ Palacio and “Stargirl” by Jerry Spinelli.
-
Engaging your student(s) in intellectually stimulating discussion about the books.
-
Encouraging your student(s) to write in the Read365 journal to reinforce concepts learned during reading.
You will enjoy the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students that will have positive lifelong academic, social and emotional impacts.
How to Get Involved
For the 2019-2020 school year, READ365 will begin on either Tuesday, September 10 or Wednesday September 11 depending upon your selected day. The program will “pause” during the holidays and pick back up in January and run through April. To apply to be a volunteer, please select one of the following options:
