Mission

The mission of the Office of Safety and Risk Services (OSRS) is to protect the district’s human, financial, and physical assets from the consequences of losses. We accomplish this by empowering all Charleston County School District (CCSD) employees, volunteers, and contractors to proactively identify, report, and act to remove or mitigate safety hazards.

Overview

The OSRS is responsible for assisting with the management of the cost of damages (i.e. floods, fires, and storms) to school property, including CCSD vehicles. This allows schools to focus on educating students while we work with insurance companies and CCSD facilities in facilitating repairs and payment to vendors. 

Additionally, we manage the various insurance policies that cover CCSD property and student/athlete insurance. Workers' Compensation also falls under the OSRS and is managed by the Workers' Compensation Coordinator.
