My teacher's love for reading and the quest for knowledge inspired me to want to ignite the same passion in my students that they sparked in me. If I could provide that same escape for my students afforded to me by my teachers and the books I read, then I know that I had made a difference in a student’s life. Hence, William Butler Yeats’ quote, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire," resonates with me. I have always felt that igniting my students' desire to learn or read more would be the pinnacle of my accomplishment. Igniting my students' desire to want and seek more for themselves is all any educator can ask.
