Bus Stop Information

• Use the Bus Stop Lookup Tool to locate your bus stop information.  If you did not find a stop within .3 miles for traditional, 5 miles for magnets or have a safety concern; please complete the Bus Stop Request form below.  Please refresh your browser before viewing the to ensure you are viewing the current stops.
  Please plan for a 10 minute window prior to and after your scheduled bus stop time.

• Select the red bus and your stop information will display, if it does not show both AM and PM, check to see if there is an arrow at the top of the box, if so select it to move to the next stop.  If not, check to see if there is another red bus close by and select that stop.

• Bus stops are not located in the Bus Stop Lookup Tool for Center for Advanced Studies (CAS), Daniel Jenkins Acdy, Liberty Hill Acdy and for students receiving Special Needs transportation. You will receive a phone call with your students bus information.

• Select the Click for Help button on the top of the page for instructions to navigate the website.  “If you are using ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY and are having trouble navigating the bus stop lookup tool, please email whitney_spain@charlestoncountyschools.gov  for assistance.”

• Do not use the Bus Stop Request form to locate your bus stop; use the School Bus Stop Lookup Tool above.

• The address that you use to submit your request must be the same address in PowerSchool.  Unless the request is for a daycare center or after-school program.

Traditional Education Bus Stops 

Traditional bus stops are designed to be within 0.3 miles of your home. If it is determined that the current stop location is a safety issue, a stop will be added.  

Please plan for a 10-minute window before and after your scheduled bus stop time.

What is County-wide and Partial magnet transportation?

County-wide magnet routes provide Charleston County students with the unique opportunity to attend any county-wide magnet school of their choice. However, parents and students should consider the following factors when opting to utilize a county-wide magnet bus route:

• Magnet routes are typically longer than Traditional neighborhood bus routes.
• Ride times may exceed 90 minutes in some areas.
• Magnet bus stops are different from neighborhood bus stops.
• Magnet bus stops are centralized and typically within 5 miles from the student’s home although in some areas distances may be greater.  
• Magnet bus stops are considered “parent assisted” and not intended to be stops which students can walk to or be left unattended.
• Magnet bus stops are typically assigned to commercial shopping centers that allow sufficient space for buses to enter and exit from safely. Bear in mind that magnet stops are occasionally eliminated, as the land owners have the ultimate authority concerning the existence of magnet stops on private property. 
• All students should arrive at Magnet bus stops 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pickup time.
• Drivers cannot wait at bus stops.

Parent/Guardian Bus Stop Responsibility 

Parents or guardians are responsible for the safety, conduct, and the timely arrival of  their children to, from and at the designated school bus stop before and after the arrival  of the school bus for pick up and transport to school and the timely departure of the  child after the school bus leaves the designated school bus stop after transporting the  children from school. For purposes of this section, the phrase "arrival of the school bus"  includes the time that the school bus assigned to the school bus stop activates the  required pedestrian safety devices, stops, and loads or unloads students until the  school bus deactivates all pedestrian safety devices. (SC CODE OF LAWS - SECTION  59-67-415)
