CogAT Testing Update - 11.21.25
ALL students in Grades 2 and 4 recently took the Cognitive Abilities Test. Communications for families will be distributed via email on Friday, 11/21/25. The emails are sent from ccsdschools@charleston.k12.sc.us and are sent to the contact emails associated with the child in PowerSchool.
- ALL families of students in Grades 2 and 4 will receive an email with their child's CogAT score report attached.
- ONLY families of students whose scores qualify them for FULL or PARTIAL gifted identification will receive an additional status notification email with their child's GT Profile attached. The GT Profile contains all data that could contribute to GT Identification.
- Students who do NOT qualify at this time will NOT receive an email saying this because this is not the only reason we administer this assessment.
Please read all information and plan to join us for a parent Zoom about how to better understand your child’s data - no matter their score or status. Please be mindful that gifted identification information is confidential and sensitive when communicating with your child and others. While it’s exciting to receive information about your child’s strengths, gifted identification indicates that your child will need specialized support to meet their full potential.
Parents of students in Grades 2 & 4 are invited to learn how to better understand CogAT Score Reports and Gifted Identification during our parent Zooms!
