Program Services
For all adults 17 years of age and older, there are no age restrictions.
High School Diploma/Virtual SC
High school diploma courses are offered to students who wish to obtain a State of South Carolina High School Diploma. Students must meet the current graduation requirements as a student who graduates from a high school in South Carolina. Adults may enroll with any number of credits, regardless of age (17 years of age and older).
High School Equivalency Diploma Program
The high school equivalency diploma program is based on the GED Tests, a battery of assessments in four core academic areas: Language Arts (reading and writing), Social Studies, Science and Mathematics. Students upon successful completion of the GED Exam receive a State of South Carolina High School Equivalency Diploma.
Adult Basic Education
This program serves adults who function below the 8th grade in reading and mathematics.
English Literacy
This program is designed to provide English instruction for adults who speak a native language other than English or who have difficulty speaking, reading, writing, or understanding the English language.
WIN/WorkKeys Career Readiness Program / Preparation and Testing
To schedule, reschedule or cancel your WIN or WorkKeys Test at SC Works Charleston, please call 843-574-1882. Once scheduled, click this link to pay the $20 reservation fee. RevTrak accepts Visa, Mastercard or Discover debit/cards.Payment must be made within 24 hours to hold your seat for testing; if not received, your seat will be released.
If you do not call to cancel 2 days prior to your testing date/time or you do not show for testing, a refund will not be issued. Once you complete the test, your $20 reservation fee will be credited back to your credit/debit card.
WIN or WorkKeys Readiness Program provides instructional and assessment services to adult learners who need employability skill development for the purpose of job placement.
College and Career Transition Services
Students are provided an opportunity to explore possibilities for their future. Students are administered a career assessment. During one-on-one sessions with a College and Career Navigator, the results of the career assessments are discussed, as well as information about career alternatives, career pathways, college options, starting your own business, and military opportunities.
Community Collaborative Initiatives
The program partners with community organizations. For on-site services, Adult Education provides GED Preparation, ESOL Instruction, and a WIN/WorkKeys Career Readiness Certification Program.
