CCSD and RiverDogs move into seventh year of “Reading Around the Bases” partnership
CCSD and the Charleston RiverDogs, the Lowcountry’s professional baseball team (and Single-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) will start the seventh season of their second-grade reading initiative, “Reading Around the Bases.”

Charleston County School District (CCSD) will open its School Choice application process for the 2023-2024 school year on January 24, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The window will close on February 24, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

Hunter Graham named CCSD’s Spelling Bee Champion
Moultrie Middle School’s Hunter Graham was named the 2023 Charleston County School District (CCSD) Spelling Bee Champion last night at Burke High School’s Auditorium.

South Carolina State Superintendent Visits Stall High School
On January 18, 2023, South Carolina State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver made her first visit to a public school since she was sworn in. She toured R.B. Stall High School, met with staff and students, and spoke with local media.

Darlene Roberson appointed SCSBA Region 2 Director
Darlene Roberson, a Charleston County School District (CCSD) board member, was appointed Region 2 Director of the South Carolina School Board Association’s (SCSBA) Board of Directors Jan. 6. Region 2 consists of Charleston County.
