Simmons-Pinckney Middle Peninsula Promise Pathways

Simmons Pinckney

A Creative and Career-Connected Foundation for Grades 6–8

Simmons-Pinckney Middle School is a countywide magnet and a proud cornerstone of the Peninsula Promise. Launching August 2026, the school provides students in grades 6–8 with a rigorous, arts-infused and career-connected foundation that prepares them for seamless transition into Burke High School’s Liberal Arts, Fine Arts, Building Arts, and Career & Technical Education pathways.

At Simmons-Pinckney, students explore both the Linard McCloud Cultural Arts Collective and expanded CTE programming, building skills, confidence, and clarity before entering high school.

All students participate in:

  • Visual Arts, Theatre & Storytelling, Music (Instrumental & Vocal), Dance & Movement, and CTE pathways

  • Arts-infused academic instruction embedded into core subjects

  • Annual Artists-in-Residence experiences

  • Collaborative projects and public showcases

  • Leadership development through the arts

Students receive specialized preparation and priority access to aligned high school programs at Burke, strengthening neighborhood continuity and creating a clear 6–12 pathway.
