Universal 3K and 4K at CCSD: Building Foundations for Success

Charleston County School District is proud to introduce Universal 3K and 4K at CCSD, a premier early learning experience for three and four year old students designed to build strong academic and developmental foundations from the very start.

As part of the Peninsula Promise Universal 3K and 4K expands access to high-quality, research-based instruction in intentionally designed early learning environments that nurture curiosity, confidence, and kindergarten readiness. This initiative reflects our commitment to ensuring every child begins their educational journey prepared for long-term success.

NEW: Zoned Student Transition Plan

For the 2026-2027 school year, two 4K classrooms will remain at both Memminger Elementary School and Sanders-Clyde Creative Arts Elementary School.

Two 4K (Child Development) classrooms will remain at both Memminger Elementary School and Sanders-Clyde Creative Arts Elementary School for zoned students for ONE YEAR ONLY.

  • The two 4K classes at Memminger and Sanders-Clyde will only be offered in the 2026-2027 school year.

  • The two Preschool Intervention Classrooms (PIC) for 3K and 4K students on the peninsula will transition to Charleston Progressive Academy. This aligns with 3K and 4K programming access and opportunities with general education peers.

For families considering 3K:

  • Universal 3K for Peninsula students will be offered at Charleston Progressive Academy (CPA) as part of PreK at CCSD.

All families are invited to complete the application process to secure placement in this premier program. Please note that priority will be given to Peninsula zoned families for Universal 3K and 4K at CPA. 

Paper applications will also be available through the CCSD Early Learning Office. Early Learning staff will be present at upcoming community meetings to provide personalized support and answer questions.
