CCPL Reading is Radical! May 15 - July 31. Summer Reading prizes available while they last
  • What is the Summer Reading Program?

Go back in time and bask in the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s as the Charleston County Public Library (CCPL) hosts the 2023 Summer Reading Program: Reading is Radical. In partnership with the Charleston County School District (CCSD), the program promotes reading and offers incentives throughout the summer, along with featured events for all ages at our library branches. Prize pickup begins June 1.

    Who is it for?

    Everybody - kids to adults

    How do we sign up?

The school librarian is working hard to ensure that all students are signed up by the end of the year. If, for some reason, that doesn't happen, here is how you can make sure their beanstack account is linked to the CCPL beanstack account.

Step 1: Logging into Clever with a browser or free Clever app

username: lasfir1234 (first 3 letters of last name first 3 letters of first name last 4 numbers of student ID)

password: same as login for CCSD device (123456 for all students in 3rd grade and below)

Step 2: Connecting CCSD Beanstack account to CCPL

Step 3: Registering for Summer Reading

    How do we earn rewards?

Log all of your reading into Beanstack through the Clever app. Make sure to switch to CCPL using the arrows in the top right. Win prizes at 5, 15 and 30 hours with many voucher prizes for food and experiences throughout the area (while supplies last).

Also, at each branch there will be one lucky Rad Reader Reward for each group (Kids, Teens, and Adults)

    Why is summer reading important?

You might hear the term summer slide, which refers to the learning loss that takes place when students are out of school. One of the easiest ways to help combat this problem is to make sure your child(ren) are reading over the summer. Here is a great infographic to provide you with more information.
