• CCSD Pre-K Child Development Core Curriculum

  • The core Pre-K curriculum is comprehensive with a primary focus on developmentally appropriate language and literacy skills, numeracy strategies, social-emotional development, with a play based approach.  The needs of bilingual, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and preschool children with exceptional needs are met through our inclusive program.

    Additional Curriculum Supplements:

Our programs use Heggerty Phonemic Awareness daily to teach students repetitive and explicit phonemic awareness lessons.  Such as rhyming, initial sounds, medial sounds, final sounds, segmenting, blending sounds, letter/sound relationships, and nursery rhymes.

Our programs use Second Step to teach direct social-emotional skills through songs, use of stories, visual pictures, and puppets.

Some programs use Bridges Pre-K to address SC Early Learning Standards with numeracy concepts. Bridges Pre-K is a play-based curriculum, designed to engage young children through the use of themes, games, stories, mysteries and intriguing problems, manipulatives and visual models.
