School News and Announcements
Greetings from the Principal
The Groundhog says Spring is on the way and so are a lot of good things for Lucy Beckham High School. The construction is moving very quickly with so many exciting things getting installed: flooring, paint, logos and landscaping. Students have been making great class choices. Our PTSO is up and going. We are getting closer to having our Athletic Department and programs up and running. It’s a fast and furious time of growth.
We are also getting events and programs set up to welcome our new faculty, staff and students.
Families should be on the lookout for details about the following events:
March 21st – “Teacher Signing Day” – POSTPONED an afternoon event (times still TBD) hosted by the Longpoint Road Chic-fil-a. This will be an opportunity for parents and students to meet the Faculty and Staff. It will also be a time for students who are interested in representing LBHS to the public to sign up for Student Ambassador training.
Late May/June – Anticipated occupancy of building and grounds. Construction is on schedule and we are planning to take occupancy in late May or early June. This date is dependent upon passing all final state inspections with the Office of School Facilities (OSF).
July 2020 – School Tours will hopefully begin. We will also host a Student Life Expo where students will have the opportunity to learn more about organizations and groups in which they can participate and make contact with community members who offer services for students and families. Students who are interested in forming clubs will also have the opportunity here to recruit other students with like interests.
August 2020 – “MERGE” – This will be a parent/student orientation day held prior to the start of school. Students will walk through their schedules, learn about how “we do school” at LBHS with our unique programs and participate in our first Pep Rally. Parents will participate in a “how we do school at LBHS” presentation and have a chance to meet with the administrators, counselors and staff who will be supporting their student. Attendance at this event is recommended but not required.
August 18, 2020 – First Day of School!!
