1/13/22 CCSD Board Update: Policy ADD Extended until 3/14/22 Update:

Due to the latest DHEC COVID-19 rating for Charleston County, the CCSD Board of Trustees extended the facemask requirement through Monday, March 14, 2022, for all students, staff, and visitors in all of our schools and buildings. The Board’s goal is to keep students and staff as safe as possible while there is a significant increase in COVID-19 positive cases in the community.

The Board’s action reinstates all parts of Policy ADD, which you can review here.

The Board of Trustees is set to review COVID-19 data and revisit this decision on Monday, March 14, 2022.

  • 1/3/22 Update: Face Mask and Isolation/Quarantine Time Frame Updates

In accordance with CCSD’s 12/31/21 reinstatement of Policy ADD and DHEC’s updated isolation and quarantine time frames, please review the following information in preparation for students' return on January 4:

    1. All students and staff are required to wear a face covering.
    2. Mask waivers for students are accessible here:
      • Complete that form and it will go to your child’s teachers.
    3. Masks will not be required during mealtimes or recess.
    4. If your child tests positive, quarantine will be five days since symptoms began.
      • He/she may return to school on day six with a parent note saying that symptoms have improved and there has been no fever for 24 hours, medication-free.
    5. If your child is deemed a close contact, it is a 10 day quarantine. He/she may return to school on day six if you can provide a negative test taken no earlier than day four of quarantine. Home tests will not be accepted.
    6. For both positive cases and close contacts, the student must wear a face covering between days six and 10.
    7. Non-symptomatic vaccinated students do not need to quarantine if they are up to date on the vaccine (16 years and older need a booster if it has been more than six months since their last dose).
